This data visualization project explores the history of nuclear tests conducted globally between 1945 and 2019. The visualization highlights key insights, such as the nations involved, the timeline of testing activities, and the number of tests conducted by each country in specific years. Designed to convey complex data in an accessible and visually compelling manner, the project emphasizes patterns and trends in nuclear testing over time, offering an engaging narrative that blends historical context with analytical precision.

This data visualization project takes inspiration from the powerful imagery of a bomb explosion, specifically the sunburst effect.

Using a radial layout, the visualization maps the data with each spoke representing a year, while distinct colors are assigned to different nations. The nation positioned at the center marks the first to test a nuclear warhead, while subsequent nations are placed outward in chronological order. This design not only creates a visually compelling representation but also captures the thematic essence of the subject, seamlessly blending aesthetics with functionality.

By combining historical data with a striking visual approach, the project provides a fresh perspective on the patterns and proliferation of nuclear tests, inviting viewers to engage with the subject both intellectually and emotionally.

Since the first nuclear test explosion on July 16, 1945, at least eight nations have detonated over 2,000 nuclear tests at dozens of test sites. The data shows the number of nuclaer tests done by a specific country in a particular year.
